Post-Sun Care for Healthy Skin

A mindful post-sun care routine that restores hydration, soothes inflammation, and protects your glow. Here’s how to give your skin the TLC it needs after a day under the sun.

Step 1: Cool Down—Immediately


The first step in post-sun care is to cool your skin gently. Heat lingers in the skin after sun exposure, which can worsen redness or irritation.


What to do:

  • Take a cool (not cold) shower to remove sweat, sunscreen, and saltwater.

  • Avoid harsh soaps—opt for gentle, hydrating cleansers.

  • Pat your skin dry with a soft towel (don’t rub!).


Pro Tip: You can also use a cool, damp compress on overheated areas for 10–15 minutes to soothe discomfort.


Step 2: Replenish Moisture


Sun exposure dehydrates your skin by stripping away natural oils and moisture. Replenish it immediately to prevent peeling and dullness.
